“Come kitty kitty”
Another cabling job somewhere. And no (for you nerds who noticed it), I’m not installing coax, no token ring has taken over my brains. I was in the midst of removing it and checking the CAT5e status. Look at that monster, compare it to the size of my fingers and you’ll realise it’s huge. I should ask for a hazard pay in my employment contract. I’m sure if that thing was alive, it could easily paralise a WHOLE finger if it wanted too (I actually wouldn’t mind, as long as I get superpowers for it in return).

As you can clearly see, it’s not my desk. It’s the office of my mob cousin. Somewhere underneath that mess, is a list with all the Swiss bank account numbers linking to each specific “unfortunate accident” that’s completed. Heck, there could be 3 decomposing corpses and you still couldn’t find them.

While I was working on the upper floor of the warehouse of our office, during an idle moment (and there aren’t many of those), I looked up and saw this…
…which got me thinking (since those are pretty sharp and long screws sticking out), if you are somewhere at a party at some industrial terrain where most building are made the same way, and your favorite past time is the same as Lionel Richie’s (which is dancing on the ceiling), better think twice, or even better, thrice, before actually doing it.

Actually, I’m on location, so I can’t control how neat it is here. I just wanted to show you this server room, with 4 doors exiting to the VERY SAME hallway. There are also 4 smoke/fire alarms in this room, so it’s a pretty safe working environment, if you ask me.

With so few updates in this section, you might start to think I’m actually not working. How far from the truth can you get ?
Apparently, Smart“ bought himself a logo with a scarcely clothed lady silhouette (dare I even imagine it being an SM tool she’s holding in her hand ?).

This is the future PC of Bern, the guy who also bought a (stripped down) PC 2 years ago (click here for that post). This time, I didn’t even have to pull out my whole black mail arsenal, and I only twisted his arm half way to his back. Either my sales pitch got better, or he got smarter. Even better, it’s a FULL system now, up to today’s standards (though not the top range).
So, what do you see on the picture ? Well, while he never returned with the earlier system, you can never be too careful, so as usual, warranty void if any sticker is removed. But also added besides the usual chassis intrusion alarm are candle wax (even more reliable than the electronic chassis intrusion detection !) and a nicotine sensor, as smoking not only kills the person smoking it, but quickly downgrades even the most advance technology to its junkyard equivalent.
Also note the handwritten signature on the side panel. The value of this beast has now tripled (in case of selling it on eBay).Have fun Bern !

Yupz, black is definitely the way to go these days. One batch down, one more to go.

In my field, it’s not only in software you find bugs. In this case, it a 19″ rack mountable casing, obviously manufactured in the far East (since I positively identify this as a Chinese cockroach without looking it up either on the web or in an encyclopedia).

This is from behind the building. I wonder which bird lays these Smurf eggs.
