Rest in Peace

Sunday, December 14th, 2003

There was once a big creature, about my age, swimming near the fjords of Norway, but it does no more. I’m talking about Keiko, the killer whale featured in three Free Willy movies. Only 18 months in the wild (before that, a too tiny cage in Mexico), and now a bad case of pneumonia seems to have been the cause of death. And even if I’ve never seen any of the movies, can you say it with me ? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw.

Hot Chick Alert

Saturday, December 13th, 2003

Here she is. Her name is Grace Park, and most recently, you can catch her on the Battlestar Galactica mini-series. Let’s hope this becomes a series on its own, because it’s quite good (penned by Ronald D. Moore). More pictures of Grace Park here.

Review: S.W.A.T.

Tuesday, December 9th, 2003

A pretty generic very standard nothing special leave your brains at the door kinda movie. The story was _very_ predictable, characters were semi-existent in the first few minutes, and later on it’s all follow that guy kinda action. Still a lightly digestive movie recommended if you’re hanging out with a group doin’ nothing in particular.7-.

US Box Office

Tom Cruise starrer The Last Samurai slashes its way to nr. 1 with some $24.4 million. A lower than expected opening due to bad snowstorm raging through the States. Number two is for Honey, starring the Dark Angel herself, Jessica Alba, in this hip-hop dance movie. Targeted at female teens, it gathered $14 million. But hey, I wouldn’t mind seeing her dance with her sixpack showing.
Last weeks topper, The Haunted Mansion, drops to number three with a big drop to $9.5 million

Congratz

Sunday, December 7th, 2003

Well, the second line heir to the crown of this lil’ Kingdom has just been born, so congratz to Willem-Alexander and Maxima with their baby girl. Strangely enough, info about the baby was spread quickly, followed by a picture, but we STILL don’t know the name. What are they thinking over there ? Whole Holland has to keep referring to “the baby” in their conversations ?

Review: Britney Spears – In the Zone

Saturday, December 6th, 2003

Can’t judge what you haven’t tried, so Lord knows, I suffered. Filled with 13 songs, I had to sample each of them in full, _several_ times. I can assure you, that’s no fun. All have a harsh techno dance beat to start with. Then mix in a talkative Britney, a bit of sighing and moaning and another song is finished. Even with the high bpms, it still inspires something between a long nap and a winterlong hibernation. Only 2 tracks come close to being a normal song, but even those are not the wake up call you’re longing for.2.

Grammyass

Have you seen this year’s Grammy Award Nominee List ?
Yupz, take a breath, that’s what I did. It’s filled with mummbling Sean Pauls, 50 cents, and Eminems.
Christina Aguilera’s minimalist clothing line must have impressed the jury too. First timer Kelly Clarkson talks through the first half of her debut song, and finishes the other half with some shouting. That, it seems, is also enough for a Best Vocals nomination. Then for the most mediocre songs of this side of the galaxy, Nickelback gets a few nods too. Didn’t know the jury had some young yelling female teenagers though, Justin Timbermayatreefallonyourhead has a few under his belt too.
Ah well, it ain’t all that bad, the only few nominations I can agree with is Matchbox Twenty, Faith Hill and Shania Twain. If they win a few, I can finally relax a bit. If not, what’s next ? Britney Spears ? *oh wait, noooo, so was nominated last year grmbl whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*

As you can see, or you might see in just a few moments, the comments are popped up again ! This MUST mean my likability rate has just gone through the roof, right ?

Review: Finding Nemo

Thursday, December 4th, 2003

As you’ve grown accustomed to the high quality of the Pixar/Disney partnership, this latest pic is also a high speed actioner with funny dialogue and awe inspiring 3D animation. The details and colors are mostly too much too grasp at once, and while you may think fish aren’t flexible enough, you can trust me there’s enough happening on screen to keep your eyes open. While it is al fun fun fun, somehow movies like Monster’s Inc and Shrek have an edge that make those have a better feeling to it. Don’t let that stop you from seeing this one though.8-.

Testing testing

Thursday, December 4th, 2003

Not really a post. Just a test. By putting the words Hilton Paris Sex Video and download together, I can measure that particular popularity on the search engines. People looking for the video and wanting to download it will be so disappointed. Dang, anyone met someone more evil than me ? 😈

Update:
Fox’s premiere of its new reality series “The Simple Life” (starring the more slutty than usual Hilton sisters) won the Tuesday’s Nielsen ratings in its 18-49 demographic. This also helped Fox to win the whole night’s ratings.
Makes you wonder who leaked that homevideo, eh ?

Ringgg Ringgg

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2003

It seems it’s not Alexander Graham Bell who made the first transmission of speech from one point to another by electrical mean in 1876. Old documents found in the archive of the Science Museum in London suggest it happened 15 years earlier, by a German research scientist named Philipp Reis. The result of Scottish pride and a bit of conspiracry led to the beliefs of today.
So, how does this sound ? “You can ring my reis any time you want.”
